Wonderful welcoming return visit

I stayed here for work. While the room is basic it was great value and location. The breakfast was very tasty and great quality. I would stay here again.

Lovely hotel - thank you so much for upgrading us to deluxe room on our arrival. Excellent table service at breakfast / very attentive and efficient staff with good gluten free options- really good breakfast menu. Only comment is that the room got a little cool in middle of night— a heavier duvet or extra blanket available in wardrobe would have helped. Would love to stay again - so convenient to the town too. We were so impressed with the Gateway Lodge. We got there late and had missed the restraunts opening hours but the lovely guy at reception rang a local Italian restaurant and got us a table. We had a great feed and headed back to the room that was immaculate. It seemed like it had never been used before so clean and the beds were very comfy. The shower was lovely and hot and in the morning we had breakfast in the Gateway Lodge restraunt which was delicious. I look forward to staying with them again in the future. It was so reasonably priced too!

We spent only one night in Donegal, and I wish we had stayed longer. The Gateway Lodge was perfectly located, clean, and the staff were exceptional as far as we were made to feel welcome. The breakfast was delicious, and we liked that we were so close to the centre of Donegal to explore, and enjoy. I would stay at the Gateway Lodge again gladly knowing what to expect as far as service. I hope to return at some point in the future. Thank You for making Donegal a wonderful experience for us. We really enjoyed our stay at Gateway Lodge. The staff, the location and the delicious breakfasts at BLAS exceeded our expectations. It was important for us to be able to walk to town where we had access to all that Donegal Town has to offer. It's also a good jumping off spot to explore the surrounding areas. The only thing that would have improved our stay would have been a luggage rack in the room. accessing our suitcases from floor level was quite inconvenient.

We enjoyed our stay at your lodge as well as the location. I do suggest supplying wash cloths but that may be a cultural difference. The overall feel was minimalist but ironically we had everything we needed. I personally appreciated that there was no carpet in the room which made you feel that the room was exceptionally clean.

Very nice and modern hotel, very close to the town centre - you can literally see it from the hotel. Easy parking,. Friendly and helpful staff (its Donegal...). Would definitely recommend it for a stay in the town.

Friendly and helpful folk on front on desk and in Bistro. Comfortable bed, nice shower room and convenient location. Have stayed before and would stay again. Only improvements would be the Bistro being open in the evening and a dedicated area for motorcycle parking I.e.flat, no gravel, and ideally a hoop/rail to secure to.

Very well located within easy walk of town and on an elevated position away from main road. Traffic noise at if you left window open was a bit of a problem but with windows closed there was no noise at all. The room was spacious, very clean, with a very comfortable bed and lovely powerful shower in the en-suite. The breakfasts, which had paid for as part of stay were just amazing; so much choice and everything looked and tasted fantastic; all served by very friendly and accommodating staff. Would not hesitate to recommend a staying here to anyone

I had a very nice stay at the Gateway Lodge Donegal. The room was big and very clean. The staff was excellent. My only comment concerned the vertical blinds on the front window. Two of the panels were missing, leading to a lack of privacy, especially on the ground floor right next to the reception desk. I'm sure it was fixed promptly.

Lovely stay except for room temperature - we were in room 21 and oh my god we nearly sufficated in it, we did have the fan on but still extremely uncomfortable. Defo needs air con !

A lovely weekend spot- clean, comfortable room. Food and service in the restaurant was excellent. However, the biggest shout out has to go to the staff- from the receptionist who answered my questions about early check-in, the girl who checked us in when we actually arrived and booked us a taxi for us to go to the wedding reception at Harvey's Point, to Annie who contacted me and sent me my lost property- you guys were fab!

So convenient to town, pubs, restaurants and music. A great breakfast for a small supplement in the adjacent building where the staff was super friendly!

I stayed here with my wife for 3 nights in July and what a brilliant place to stay. I cannot praise the Gateway Lodge enough it was a pure pleasure stay there. The Gateway is situated within easy walking distance of the town centre, with plenty of off street parking. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds quite a big size and very comfortable.The staff are very friendly and helpful. Now let me start on the breakfast I can honestly say this was the best breakfast I have ever eaten all well cooked and delicious, and such an unbelievable choice to. A fabulous place to stay when you visit Donegal town literally 2 minutes away and you must visit the Reel Inn a great pub with music on 7 nights a week but get in early or you won't get a seat(8pmish) We would definitely stay here again! A gem of a place

A perfect base for touring around West Donegal. The accommodation was spacious, spotless and very comfortable. The breakfast was by far the best breakfast we have ever had while on holiday; freshly cooked with quality ingredients and exactly as ordered. The staff were friendly, attentive and very efficient. I will definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely, comfortable stay at the Gateway Lodge. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic and staff were fantastic with our little girl and getting her something she could eat. It was also a fantastic location, close to everything and easy to find. The rooms were very clean and decorated nicely. Good parking too! Would definitely stay here again.

Normally don't complete these type of reviews, but doing so here as the staff at reception were exceptionally good. Both check-in and check-out were extremely efficient and straightforward, but the staff were very friendly and engaging. Leaves a very positive lasting impression. The design and furnishings were top class, while the room was spotlessly clean.

Check in was a breeze, the room was spacious and immaculate, the bed was comfortable, the water pressure was perfect, the parking was free and abundant, breakfast was great and cheerfully delivered, and you can walk into town in just a couple of minutes. What more can you ask for, and what more is there to say?

We spent 1 night at Gateway lodge while attending a wedding. Rooms were comfortable and provided all we needed. Breakfast was delicious especially the granola which was the best ever! Overall a very pleasant stay and would recommend Gateway to others.

We loved our stay at the Gateway Lodge. It was very clean with everything we needed. Staff was very courteous and helpful. Location was perfect with plenty of parking.It was an easy walk to the town center. We opted for the morning breakfast and it was great. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit.

We had an amazing stay here! The woman at check in was so friendly and nice. Gave us great recommendations on where to eat and what to do. The room was GORGEOUS. It was the most comfortable bed and the best shower we had during our trip. The breakfast the next morning was delicious. I’m glad there was a choice from a menu because it broke up all the traditional fries we were having.

Lovely hotel with really friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast is amazing. It is an easy 5min walk into Donegal town centre but is very quiet which is great. The only thing I would recommend is turning the heating down in your room when you get in - I should have done this.

Lodge was ideally placed close to Donegal Town. Lodge bedroom was clean and simply decorated, only downside for us was you could hear the outside courtyard patrons and closeby traffic from main road. However, I would highly recommend the Gateway Lodge and will stay again

This was a great place to stay. My only regret is that I didn't book two nights. The breakfast was fabulous next door in BLAS and the staff were very friendly and attentive. I would have no hesitation in recommending The Gateway Lodge.

I had a very pleasant stay in the Gateway Lodge. The hotel and staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. I felt that I got great value for money. Breakfast was very good value and was served quickly and efficiently even though the dining room was very busy. One small criticism might be that neither the bacon nor sausage had much flavour to them. I know that in Donegal it would take very little to rectify this. All in all many thanks for a very pleasant stay.

The room was clean and comfortable. All of the hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations and suggestions. The breakfasts were delicious and we were glad to find that our hotel was just a short walk away from the center of town.

Gateway Lodge is a very nice small hotel with restaurant. The staff is friendly and accommodating. We were in Donegal during very warm weather and no air conditioning (which is typical for Ireland). A call to the front desk about a fan was answered quickly. The room was a nice size and bathroom was fine. A good night's sleep once we adjusted to the heat! The breakfast was very good and our dinner was delicious. We would stay here again and recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for three days and found the Lodge was above expectations .We were in a ground floor room in the courtyard and found it to be a nice size,the bathroom was of a good standard.The breakfasts were good and plentiful. The staff were very informative about the locality and were pleasant at all times.

Really lovely modern rooms and couldn't get a better location. Only a few minutes walk from centre of town. I really appreciated the effort that has gone into the design of the rooms.

Our stay was wonderful and the staff was great and friendly. The Blas Restaurants food next to it was incredible. We were very impressed with the facilities and how close to everything it was.

I had a very enjoyable stay (2 overnights) in The Gateway Lodge Hotel while attending a G.A.A. match in Ballyshannon. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and the food was excellent. I really liked the idea of cooking the breakfast to one's order rather than picking it out of a hot dish oneself. All in all a most enjoyable stay. The only slight crib I would have is that there was no bar or area where one could sit and chat.

We recently stayed in the lovely Gateway Lodge for two nights and we could not recommend it any more. We were arriving from Dublin very late but this wasn't a problem, we even got a phone call to see if we would like breakfast the next morning as it wasn't included in our booking. The night porter was so welcoming and helpful, despite the late hour and our room was perfect. So cosy and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious too. Highly recommended.

We did a little research while in Ireland, on where to stay in Donegal. I'm glad we read the reviews about Gateway Lodge Donegal before we booked our room last minute. We definitely enjoyed our stay. Hotel was lovely, very close to Donegal town, food in restaurant amazing with the best breakfast we've ever had I. A hotel. One down point though, I find the decor in our room (21) to be overly dark but the bed was so comfortable.

The Gateway Lodge was a new experience for us as we usually stay in a hotel but it was a very pleasant stay. The rooms were modern, the beds were very comfortable. The room was spotless and housekeeping ensured it stayed that way. Ideal position for touring the surrounding area.

Overall great place to stay. The only criticism would be that the hotel restaurant closes at 5.00pm and would be nice to simply wander into the restaurant for an evening meal so I had to ask where else to eat and advised some other local hotels. And breakfast at 8.00am seems a little late? Apart from that, very good.

We could not have had a nicer time in Donegal and the Gateway Lodge was perfect. Neat, clean and friendly. Denise McGrory was at the desk and was extremely nice. She not only helped us located the place where my grandfather lived, she got a local to drive us out to the location. She went above and beyond to help us out and we greatly appreciated it.

When she found out that we didn't have accommodations in the next town we were visiting, she found a great place for us. I would definitely recommend Gateway Lodge!!

The rooms were modern and very clean. Plenty of free onsite parking. The area was very quiet but with in walking distance of pubs and the castle. The front desk attendants were very helpful with answering questions. Would have liked to have had washcloths in the bathrooms, but maybe that is more an american thing. Breakfast in the morning was very good.

Great place to stay, very reasonably priced and just a few minutes walk from Donegal Town centre. The bedrooms were very clean with good quality bedding and towels. The breakfast provided in the restaurant was excellent and the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, would definitely stay here again.

Over the Easter holiday period we had decided to take a road trip holiday, a night in Donegal at Gateway Lodge was just one of our stops & may I say the very best! If I could rate every area 10 stars I would do so. Angela on the reception desk was fantastic - customer service was second to none. The rooms were beyond stunning - the website does no justice to just how beautiful the hotel is throughout. Value for money - no question - breakfast was also fantastic & a very reasonable price. Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely room decorated very stylishly. Very friendly and super helpful staff. Only slight issue was the noise of the fan outside the window. We stayed in room 21. I mentioned it to reception staff who said it was from the kitchen which is fair enough, but it appeared to run all night which I would have thought was odd for a kitchen. It didn't really impact on our stay but I could imagine it would be an issue during the summer when you would need to open the window. Otherwise, everything was great. We've stayed several times previously and would definitely stay again.

Stayed for two nights over Easter with two other people. All the staff we met during our stay were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean, modern and the beds comfortable. We only ate breakfast in the restaurant but the food was very good and there were lots of choices on offer. The Gateway makes a great base for touring Donegal and is just a stones throw from town itself. We will being staying there again!

We were pleasantly surprised by what we experienced on our visit to Gateway Lodge. We thought we were going to get basic accommodation, however the rooms we had were spotless and well decorated. All the staff we encountered were very friendly, and on check in we upgraded to breakfast which was stunning. Would have no hesitation in both recommending and staying again.

We had a lovely stay. The only thing that slightly bothered me was that there was a constant noise that sounded like a gas boiler or something.

Lovely stay at the Gateway Lodge. Location excellent. Staff were welcoming and assisted in any way they could. Hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas/warm and clean. Will def stay again.

Hi, I booked in for one night because I had a meeting in the area. My request for a room change, because I was worried about traffic keeping me awake, was dealt with immediately and without fuss. The rooms were comfortable and everything worked. I enjoyed my cup of Barry's tea in the morning, followed by a good breakfast of grilled kippers and poached eggs with nice strong coffee. I would definitely stay again. Thank you, Barbara.

Loved the location, only 2 minute walk to the center of town. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. You have to have breakfast there as the best breakfast menu ever. Would recommend to anybody.

I have stayed in the Gateway recently. Really enjoyed my stay. Great Location very close to Donegal town. Very comfortable rooms. Staff very efficient and friendly. Breakfast cooked fresh and really good quality food. Would highly recommend staying here.

Stayed on the motorhome park. Loved the flat pitches, electricity, water and grey waste disposal on site. Great central location in Donegal town with great nightlife and food. Would've appreciated a chemical loo for waste disposal and a shower on site but overall an excellent facility for motorhomes.

Our room had a king size bed and was basic but clean. The breakfast, which costs an additional 8 Euro per person was good. The location is a convenient five minute walk to the shopping district.

We enjoyed our stay at Gateway Lodge, especially the breakfast in the nicely designed restaurant.

Excellent hotel in a perfect position only 2 minute walk into Donegal Town. Would definitely recommend and stay there again if returning to the area.

Incredibly impressed with my stay. The rooms are lovely, like mini 'lodges' in a block. Clean, modern, great bathrooms and hige comfy bed. The staff at reception and the night porter were very friendly, polite and helpful! The cafe being located right next to it as part of the setting was also great - fabulous breakfast and lunch that I had there, really good qualit. All in all, worth every euro and I would happily stay again!

The Gateway Lodge was perfect! Unpretentious, clean, and exactly what was advertised-no unwelcome surprises. For our 2 night stay, the bed was comfortable and we were able to get some much needed rest. Denise at the front desk was great- she promptly answered and email about extending our stay and upon our arrival, was very helpful with recommendations on where to eat and drink. She even brought us a bucket of ice and silverware to our room for no charge (very rare!). Parking was easy and best of all- no hidden fares. Highly recommend staying here!

We booked in to stay at Gateway Lodge for two nights but as it was so fabulous we actually stayed an extra night! Everything about it was wonderful beautiful rooms, a superb restaurant and friendly helpful staff. The location too is excellent as its a few minutes walk into Donegal town. We loved everything about it and will definitely return it's really not to be missed! So just go and enjoy!

My wife, sister in law and myself really enjoyed our visit to The Gateway Lodge...our rooms were excellent(Superior Rooms 24&25),place was spotless and location excellent. Denise the receptionist was not only efficient and helpful but has a great sense of humour as well!! We also found Nicola and Enya in the Blas Restaurant to be very helpful and pleasant as well. Well done all round and if we visit Donegal Town again you can be assured of our custom!!We have recommended to friends as well. Cheers Doug

Stayed for one night in motorhome park and had breakfast next morning. Such a gem of a find for us. Will definitely be back. So clean, relaxed, tastefully decorated and food was delicious. Thank you!

Booked camper van in. Everything there that we needed. Toilet shower etc, electricity. Reception staff very friendly. Had a delicious breakfast in restaurant next morning. Ideal location to park camper van within a few minutes walk to diamond. Would definitely go back

I booked the Gateway Lodge as a birthday treat for my Husband's 50th and got a free upgrade. Had a very warm welcome. All the staff were so Friendly. Room and facilities were modern, clean and well serviced. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Donegal town, just a few minutes walk to all bars, restuarants and shops.

We stayed here for one night recently and were very satisfied with everything we found, from the friendly and efficient receptionist to the breakfast. The room we were in was fitted to a very high standard and was perfectly clean and comfortable. I did have a problem connecting to WIFI and spoke to reception who explained what the problem was and rectified it immediately, top marks for that. I would recommend a visit to Donegal and would definitely stay at the Gateway Lodge again

Room was very clean with large comfortable bed. Bathroom also very clean with fluffy towels. 5 minute walk to Donegal town. Only downside was noisy guests outside our room at 3am letting their children run around. Would definitely stay here again though as very good value for money.

We were so lucky and got the nicest room I have ever stayed in. It was so clean and modern. The staff were so helpful. I will definitely be back. The only thing was that on booking it said breakfast was 5 euros but this wasn't obvious the next day at breakfast. My breakfast was 6.50 for a small fry and my husbands 8.50 for a large fry. Having said that it was lovely and cooked to order.

Beautiful rooms, extremely comfortable bed

Really close to the main square in Donegal town. It is probably the highest standard of accommodation available in this area. It is lovely and quiet and our room and bathroom were immaculately clean. The beds are so comfortable and the linen and bedding is of the highest standard. Great parking facilities too. The only thing I can think of for improvement would be the television and available channels; they were pretty poor. The coffee shop has amazing coffee and available drinks products there are really really good and the desserts were nice. This is definitely a great location if you would like to experience Donegal Town!!

Stayed on motorhome site. Conveniently located near Dongal town. Well laid out site with proper concreted parking slots, electric hook up, water facilities. Toilet available but no shower, that's the only negative point. Overall very good and cheaper than most.

Staff were warm and helpful and went the extra mile for us upon arrival as we arrived quite early on the day. The room was large with lots of space and was also modern. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

The staff (especially the girl at reception, unfortunately I can't remember her name) were excellent and helpful. The room was very well appointed and we had a great overnight stay. It's just a few minutes walk to Donegal Town centre so very good location I would highly reccommend The Gateway Lodge and will definitely stay there again when in Donegal

We checked in after the official reception hours without problem and the staff were consistently very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Very good beds and a well appointed room meant we relaxed and enjoyed our stay. One small improvement would be to have hooks for coats inside the front door.

Myself and my husband stayed as we were attending a wedding at the Mill Park , have already recommended this B&B to family and friends . Rooms more than ample , conveniant to hotel , staff v friendly and breakfast was excellent .

It was a great experiece to stay there. Staffs were friendly, big beds and very comfortable, its a nice area walking distance to Donegal town which is great. I would highly recommend this place.

We stayed for three nights in October 2015; the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, tidy and a good size; the ensuite was also very nice. I would recommend The Gateway Lodge as a nice and comfortable place to stay in Donegal Town. Thank you for making my first trip back to Donegal in 10 years, a welcoming and comfortable one.

Après plusieurs B&B vieillots, quel plaisir d'être dans une chambre moderne et fonctionnelle, sans chichis ! Bonne literie, lumineux, de l'espace, près du centre ville. Seul bémol : le petit-déjeuner manque de variété (il est vrai que nous y sommes allés tard).

We had a brilliant stay and we're very well looked after. We traveled with two wheelchair users and found everything to be easily accessible, with ramped access to all the rooms. The only downside was the steep hill up to the property when walking but there is a gravel driveway to the left of the building which is easier to use. We are already looking forward to going back.

Great boutique style lodge in Donegal. The rooms were very clean and the bed was so comfortable i could have slept there forever. With a minimalist design, the hotel has everything you need and nothing you don't. Would definitely recommend and stay there again next time I am in Donegal!
